2013 470 Worlds | Day 6 | Sat 10 Aug | Men { 12 images } Created 9 Aug 2013

Coach Kovalenko and sailors Mat BELCHER and Will RYAN (AUS) fulfilled their task today to keep the chain of wins in their new campaign onto Rio 2016 unbroken, and put a crown on the 2013 season by winning the 470 World Title. Kovalenko raises performance and excitement in the Olympic Sailing Sport, written with capital characters, as his achievements add great value to the comparison of Olympic Sailing with other World Sports such as Soccer, Swimming and Tennis as an example.

After 6 Olympic Gold medals and 15 World Titles, one might think that success knows an utter limit set by nature. Not for Kovalenko! His magic seems to be far from over since his new recruited 2016 Olympic Gold potential wins event after event, and Kovalenko has achieved his 16th World Title today, and without any doubts, more to come.

The only crew that might have endangered the Australian 2013 World Title victory was Greece’s Panaglotis MANTIS and Pavlos KAGIALIS. Although a first time World Title opportunity may give an athlete huge power, the Australian experience, kept them tight, with a final result to let the French, Pierre LEBOUCHER and Nicholas LEBERRE in between to claim the silver medal, and let the Greek with silver.
