French sailors seem to have set their minds to bring France, home country of the 470 design, two World Titles. The 470 Worlds for men and women currently takes place on French waters off La Rochelle, as part of the celebrations of the Class' 50th Anniversary. After six races, France leads in the men's event, and takes second place in the women's. Medal races take place on the 10th of August.

The 470 Worlds saw it’s last races in the final series of the men’s and women’s events today. Final medal races will take place tomorrow. Sailors from ‘Down’Under’ perform the best. Mat BELCHER and Will RYAN (AUS) have the overnight lead in the men’s 470 event, Jo ALEH and Polly POWRIE (NZL) in the women’s.

The 470 Worlds taking place off La Rochelle, concluded today with the 2013 Men’s 470 World Title granted to Mat BELCHER and Will Ryan (Australia), and the Women’s 470 World Title to New Zealand’s Jo ALEH and Polly POWRIE.
The Ladies’ pair from New Zealand won the Olympic Gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games in the women’s Two Person Dinghy. By winning this World Title, they make a head start onto Rio 2016, where also the 470 design will be the equipment for the Women’s Two Person Dinghy event at the Olympic Sailing Competition.
Mat BELCHER and Will Ryan are the new recruits of Victor Kovalenko for the Rio 2016 campaign. KOVALENKO has 6 Olympic Gold medals, and as from today, 16 World Titles in his portfolio. Mat BELCHER won the Olympic Gold Medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games with 470 Class legend Malcolm Page.
